Avene – Under Rated (Everyday #33)

For this track I deciding to shoot some fast driving footage. The maximum speed increase you get in Sony Vegas is 4X. So that meant I had to be driving for at least 4 times the length of the song. Which meant maybe 15 minutes. So I decided to go to the city where I could shoot some more Vivid footage for tomorrow’s video. It also meant that the motion blur to match the look of 25P video with a 1/50 shutter speed, I had to slow down the shutter speed to 1/12.5. Well, my camera doesn’t actually have such a shutter spoeed, but it does have 1/13, which is close enough 🙂

Now, to be honest, I’m not happy with how the footage turned out. Especially compared to the old drivelapse video I shot back in 2007 which turned out a lot better. The shake is worse here than I expected (camera was mounted to the car window), possibly due to the SEL16F28 lens I used not having any image stabilisation. In fact, it didn’t focus too well either. So I’m adding this video to my new list of those that I need to redo. I’ll re-shoot it tomorrow actually. But this time using the Sony PZ 16-50 OSS kit lens. Which does have image stabilisation. I’ll also make sure to set the focus to manual.

The music, ahhh.. I found a way of doing those choppy edits you hear people using in a Presonus Studio One video featuring Luke Mornay. Big thanks for that tip Luke! I won’t go into details, but it opens up a lot of possibilities that I would probably have never thought of.
