Avene – Your Time Is Up (Everyday #23)
Ok, I’m really late with this one. I managed to shoot, edit and record the music for this on day #23, but mixing, mastering, and adding final tweaks to the video took a bit longer! Anyway, we went to Chatswood last night to check the 2015 Vivid Sydney installations they had there. Only 4 though, but quite nice. The video I’ve made here covers all of them. I’d say it’s well worth making the trip to Chatswood and checking them. There’s 2 hour parking in the Westfield car park close by.
I actually edited the video here without the music at first, just so I’d know how long to make the music. I kept the music slow to around 75bpm, as I knew I’d be slowing down nearly all the clips, as I’d shot everything handheld. The track ended up being a broken beat kind of thing. The break I used as the basis, had this out of time edit, so I worked around that.
I added a vocal too. Nothing special, and don’t ask for the lyrics, because there are none. Just some random stuff that came into my head. But yeah, for some reason I couldn’t get enough level out of either of my microphones. No idea why, but it’s a worry. I hope there’s nothing wrong with the mixer or anything. I’ll check again tomorrow.
And still on the topic of the music. With the edit being around 3:40 minutes in length, which is long for one of these daily videos, that’s why it took me longer to finish the music. Filling in all those parts where there just wasn’t much happening. I added some stutter fills too, which I then edited parts to in the video.
Overall though, I’m really happy with how this turned out. The part I edited beforehand where the guy was nodding his head, just happened to line up with where the vocal comes in a second time, so that was a bonus. There’s a lot more Vivid exhibits around Sydney this year, so I’ll try and catch the rest of them when I get a chance. I’ll head into the city tomorrow night actually. Maybe shoot the stuff around the university and Central Park shopping centre.
