Music Videos, Beats and More

Avene – Damaged (Everyday #35)

A crazy upside down driving music video, where Sydney looks like a scene from Bladerunner, a girl crosses the street in time to the beat, and the reason for the title is not revealed until the very end. But in quite a stunning way. Turn up your speakers, sit back, and enjoy the ride!

This video was intended to be another drivelapse. And it kind of is from the start. But what happened at the very end of our journey, which also happens to be the very end of the video, made it something else completely! I won’t say what.. Just watch it for yourself and see. And of course, most of it is upside down too. That’s the only way I could attach the camera to the windscreen of the car. Normally I would flip it the right way up, but just love how a lot of the footage looks upside down. What do you think? I had to flip it right side up for the end part though 🙂

The music is kind of different for this track. I’m still using my favourite 93.75 tempo though, where every beat and 1/16 note lines up perfectly with a frame of video. There’s some chopped up stuff in there too. Actually, the chord parts I created from a melody. Something I’ve never done before. I’m not a musician, so anytime I’m able to do something like that, I feel like I’ve actually achieved something. Took a bit of experimenting with different notes to get it, but it works.

The edit is just the usual jump cuts and stuff I do. Nothing exciting. I think I need to try something new.. Not exactly sure what though, but these edits still work and define my style pretty much.
