Avene – Not Activated (Everyday #12)

Now this is how you re-purpose an older video without making any edits at all! Well, kind of. Apart from shortening it slightly to fit the new music, no frames were edited at all. But it still works with the music! The edits are all smack on time.

So how was it done? Well, I got started on the music kind of late last night, so didn’t want to spend too much time editing a video. Since I’d made the tempo of the track 75bpm, the same as Yoop It, I figured what if I tried doing something with the Yoop It video? So this is the end result. Basically 3 layers of the video blended together with a blend mode, some blur on the bottom two layers along with a hue shift, a cartoon outline on the top layer which was zoomed in on the hide the text, and a grunge effect. All upside down too.

You can really do a lot with this technique. I actually also used the HitFilm auto contrast plugin over everything. Because sometimes when you use blend modes, like the multiply option I used here, things can get a bit too dark. The auto contrast plugiin evens everything out.

Before doing this, I actually tried it with a layer of Hitfilm Atomic Particles on top.. But, it didn’t work out so well.. The particles got a bit boring looking.
